Cladding slips are individual pieces of solid natural stone, cut thin and laid like a shallow masonry course. There is no panel and no backing — the wall is built up piece by piece, which is why slips are the format that reads as genuine local stonework rather than as a cladding system.

The limestones are the heart of the range: Purbeck White, Purbeck Blue and Purbeck Rag from the Dorset quarries, White Lias and Blue Lias with their cream and blue seams, Dorset Cream, and Cotswold Cream with its honey undertone. Each carries the colour of the bed it came out of, so no two walls are ever quite the same.
Alongside them we supply sandstone — Wooton, Grit Stone, Callow and Forest of Dean pennant — plus slate in Dark Slate, Slate Cladding Slips and Classic Slips, quartz in Autumn Gold, Natural and Nordic, Gold Quartzite, and Great Tew ironstone with its coursed, dressed face.
Slips run from 15mm up to 35mm depending on the stone. The thinner cuts keep the build-up tight against a reveal or a doorway; the 30mm and 35mm cuts give a deeper shadow line on the joint and a more convincing depth on an elevation seen from the street.
Coursing style varies with the stone, and it is worth choosing on this as much as on colour. Random heights and lengths give a traditional rubble-built look. Coursed and dressed stones such as Great Tew give tidy horizontal bands. Callow Sandstone is supplied as an irregular rubble build. Match the coursing to the buildings around you and the wall settles into its setting.
Because pieces are individual, coverage depends on the joint width and the coursing you lay to. Send us the wall area and we will work the quantity with you rather than leaving you to guess from a box figure.
Every slip in the range is available with a matching corner piece, which is what keeps a thin-stone wall honest at the returns. Openings, reveals, cills and copings are the other places a slip wall gives itself away, so plan those details before you order and we will make sure the right pieces are on the delivery.
